Oh my god. When he was with the Red Sox in 2010. I met him in Oakland. First Sox player I ever got an autograph from. I was sitting, pretty close to the Sox dugout (like 1 section away, maybe 12-15th row or something), and I saw someone signing for the few fans, so I rushed over. I couldn’t get into the first row. I gave this dad in front of me my baseball to pass over but I couldn’t get a good look at the face.
“Is that Coello?” I asked the man, but he said he honestly didn’t know who it was. It was September, so, with all the call ups, it can get confusing — we all know. But the player signing had a faint smile, and when I got the baseball back, I recognized the number.
“Yup, Coello.”
Clay’s wife just tweeted that she’s at the Celtics game with Holly Beckett…
Of course I happen to miss almost all of Clay’s best start so far this year.
But just in time to see him strike out the side in order.

MLB.com did a live chat with Jonathan Mayo (basically the minor league baseball expert for MLB, who has my dream job) at 3 pm eastern time.
I read that, blanked and was like ‘okay so at 1 my time’ Just got hit with actual knowledge that, hey, 3 pm EST is 12 PT.
I already missed all of it.
